Starting Out

Do you remember who gave you your first real break? Are you in a position to do that for somebody else now?

Starting out in to the world of work and breaking into a career gets harder and harder, but like that one teacher who made a subject come to life for you, there is often that one person who gives someone a chance. We are all aware of the old cliché about not getting a job without experience, but not being able to get experience without getting a job. Maybe you are the person who could break that cycle for someone new coming up? This has real resonance for me (MF) at the moment as my eldest daughter is about to graduate and without having done a vocational degree, I feel she is going to find it difficult to get a foot in the door. I remember my own lucky break only too well, and I just have everything crossed that someone will do the same for her.

So, bear in mind, if you are the person who could do that for a youngster, they will always remember you and what you did for them, and hopefully keep the chain alive by doing it for someone else.

Here’s hoping!
